SI PC874 Phase Comparator
Compensates for the phase difference between the outputs of voltage dividers. Transformer and resistive dividers can be compared with accuracy > one part per million. In most applications, this unit is combined with a generator-detector (such as ESI 861A) and a standard decade transformer to produce a voltage ratio calibration system. The quadrature output of the instrument is connected in series with the tap voltage of a standard decade transformer. The in-phase component of a voltage ratio can then be determined from the dial settings of the decade transformer since the ESI 874 cancels the out-of-phase component. The minimum quadrature range with respect to full scale input is approximately as follows for any voltage setting "S": Coarse dial: +(1.1-S) x 600 x f_kHz ppm; -(0.1-S) x 600 x f_kHz ppm Fine dial: +(1.1-S) x 15 x f_kHz ppm; -(0.1-S) x 15 x f_kHz ppm.
